Thomas Collins portret

Hey there!

I’m Tom šŸ‘‹ a husband, multidisciplinary designer and lover of all things artistic, currently working remotely from the capital of Colombia. I’m a British gent at heart - especially when it comes to music - and I like making the digital and product space more interesting, accessibleļø and less rubbish place šŸš€

I do my best work when mixing leadership and hands-on design. I’m confident in my ability to effectively communicate design concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams whilst helping my clients add clear vision, intrigue and collaboration into their projects - of course getting ridiculously excited when everything comes together.

I’m happiest when I’m smashing it with a team to make something come to life in it’s best self – I do that through solid communication, focusing on a process and building a design structure using innovative tech alongside beautiful form.

I also love teaching and helping others succeed, usually taking a lead with companies and clients I’ve worked with to ensure that the team have a better understanding of the creative process’. I like to give ā€˜crash-courses’ on the software used itself, because I find making people aware of how we utilise our tools makes it easier for us to solve the tough human problems.

I’ve done that for the likes of CollegeJourney.ai, Sharecare, Disney, MOL Group, Wimbledon, ASICS, Brainspark Games, LEGO, National Grid, and several design agencies and clients in UK and US.

I’ve always been a bit competitive, in my art studies, kickboxing, and pool tournaments with my dad (that’s definitely where I get it from). As much as I like that side of me, I’ve learnt to appreciate the importance of having a good work/life balance, especially as I’ve started a family of my own with a house of my wife, 5 furry kids 🐶🐱 and me. So when I’m not in the digi-realm, you’ll find me chasing around the dogs, cuddling a cat or two, practising my dancing with my wife, hitting the gym, or cheffing up something tasty.

Proud Moments

I’ve managed to rack up quite a few bits I’m chuffed about in my time. Various awards for projects, including a couple of Cannes Lions, Most Creative Branded Campaign of the Year, Leaders In Sports Award - Fan Experience, and some personal ones for Best UI, Best UX and Best Innovation in the CSS Community. My first ever Augmented Reality project I made was for Iron Maiden that I made solo in three weeks, learning SparkAR on the fly. And managed to raise almost Ā£2.5k in donations and 32cm of hair to go towards the Little Princess’ Trust, to name a few things.

I’m currently looking for new remote opportunities and lead design roles. If you’re in Colombia we can grab a coffee, or we can jump on a call any time of course.
